Trenyce Cobbins is a vocalist, actress, dancer and host, took a top 5 "American Idol" finalist moment and turned it into a full-fledged career. Since her stint on the former Fox reality competition show Trenyce has become a darling of the theater world. She has been working both in the United States and internationally headlining in some top Broadway musicals and plays. The Memphis-native's career in the theater kicked off with a starring turn in the stage adaptation of E. Lynn Harris' New York Times Bestselling novel, "Not A Day Goes By" playing opposite Emmy-winning actress Jackée Harry. She then joined the cast of the musical production "Soul Kittens Cabaret" alongside "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" star Tatyana Ali and R&B superstars Faith Evans, Angie Stone and Syleena Johnson. This was followed by a tour in the musical "Sweet Potato Pie" opposite Boris Kodjoe ("Real Husbands of Hollywood") and Sherman Hemsley ("The Jeffersons"). Trenyce traveled the United States in a production of the Broadway classic, "Dreamgirls", starring as Deena Jones. Trenyce then reunited with her "American Idol" colleagues Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis for a sold-out 30-year anniversary tour of the Broadway musical "Ain't Misbehavin'", The cast album from the tour was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for a Broadway Show. Following the run of "Ain't Misbehavin'," Trenyce made her debut on London's West End in the Michael Jackson-themed musical, "Thriller Live." She would star in the British-based production for nearly five years and sometimes traveled with the show for engagements in France, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Austria.
In addition to creating her niche as an international theater diva, Trenyce landed roles in films like "Beauty Shop", "Friends & Lovers" and "Kick-Ass 2" as Coach Cadell alongside Jim Carrey.
